What will happen if my MOT runs out on or after 30th March 2020?
From 30th March 2020, to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, the Government have confirmed that MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months.
You do not need to do anything to extend the date, but, you must ensure your vehicle is safe to drive.
How do I ensure my car is safe to drive?
Check your car each time you drive it.
Ensure your windows are clean and your mirrors are positioned correctly.
Check your tyres, brakes and lights are all functioning as they should be.
Your vehicle handbook will let you know how often to check your engine oil and brake fluid levels, your car may warn you too but there's no harm in checking yourself also.
How will my finance be affected by the current situation?
Both Hyundai and Vauxhall have processes in place to assist you:
Hyundai finance - www.hyundaifinance.co.uk
Vauxhall finance - www.vauxhallfinance.com/Pages/coronavirus-update.aspx
My manufacturer warranty is due to run out and I haven't had my service yet, what will happen?
Vauxhall have confirmed customers can continue to use their vehicles providing that the required maintenance is performed within 3 months or 1,800 miles of the specified service intervals.
The Hyundai warranty expiration date has been extended by up to 3 months for those vehicles whose warranty were due to expire in March, April or May 2020.
This is in addition to the relaxation of the service requirement where there is an open ended time limit and +1500 miles.
What happens if I have a car on Motability and the lease ends soon or I just ordered a new Motability car?
You will find all the latest information you need on the Motability scheme here
