The Ladies Are Taking Over

Rhondda Golf Club is running a new ladies beginner scheme which is part funded by Golf Development Wales and Hutchings Vauxhall. 22 ladies have signed up for a six week block of lessons which will give the ladies the basic skills needed to play on the Academy Course to begin with. A further coaching programme is then planned to further develop the skills needed to take on the main course at the club. The ladies have games and fixtures pre arranged and also have an active calendar of social events planned. Club Professional David Pocock is delighted with his new recruits " To have such a big and very keen group of total lady beginners is almost unheard of throughout the country. We will have to really look after these ladies as a club in order to see them through to the point of becoming fully fledged members" said David.

All the ladies who take part in coaching are eligible for 15 months free membership running from 1st October 2011 to 31st December 2012. The ladies recently took part in a ‘ladies night’, an opportunity to sign membership forms. With a fun rules and etiquette quiz, card marking workshop, not to mention the cheese and wine on offer – the ladies had a fabulous night!

David’s target is to recruit 50 new members in total by this time next year!
